Banjo’s Bush Legacy Returns to Charters Towers After 125 Years
Join us at the Mike Carney Arts Centre for a special commemorative performance marking the 125th anniversary of Banjo Paterson’s historic visit to Charters Towers.
In March 1901, Banjo Paterson presented a lecture in Charters Towers following his time as a war correspondent during the Boer War. This anniversary event brings his life and poetry back to the stage in a compelling live performance.
Award-winning bush poet Gregory North presents Life & Rhymes of Banjo Paterson, a lively and engaging performance featuring favourite poems and fascinating insights into Paterson’s remarkable life as a writer, journalist, and war correspondent.
This is a rare opportunity to experience Australian literary history brought vividly to life.
