The Charters Towers Showground is used as an overflow facility and only open during visitor peak season. Our aim is for all guests to enjoy their visit and take away memories of a most enjoyable time in the Charters Towers Region. It’s your gateway to and from the famous Queensland outback where you’ll experience warm hospitality and all the services and facilities you need to make your life on the road comfortable.

CLOSED for annual Show! The Charters Towers Showground (CTS) is available for booking as a facility for RVs, caravans, trailers, or tent camping only under specific conditions. It will only be opened when all powered sites are fully occupied at the three caravan parks within Charters Towers City: Charters Towers Tourist Park (4787 7944), Dalrymple Tourist Van Park (4787 1121) and Big 4 Aussie Oasis Outback Holiday Park (4787 8722)

We welcome all visitors staying in the Charters Towers
Showground Overflow Facility and trust your stay is enjoyable.
In order to ensure the comfort and safety of all of our guests
and surrounding residents, please read and adhere to the following:
Caravan Sites
• One site per customer. Please park within the marked bays.
• Power & water is not guaranteed at every site.
• Do not park in the ‘big rig’ bays unless told to by a staff member or volunteer.
• All vehicles should be parked front-facing to entry gate ensuring your caravan/trailer ‘A’ frame
faces the roadway to allow an easier exit in the unlikely case of any emergency evacuation.
• All road and pathways (gravel and paved) and areas surrounding all building structures on site
must be kept clear to allow for unobstructed access at all times. Any vehicles or items obstructing
this access will be removed at the expense of the owner.
• Each individual site area is to be kept at a reasonable level of cleanliness and tidiness and all
possessions contained within a reasonable area of your site.
General
• Max. 2 night stay.
• Check-in times are from 8am – 7pm daily.
• Departure time is by 11am.
• Noise levels must remain at reasonable limits at all times. Social gatherings, electronic
entertainment and fun with friends are all part of a great holiday. However, please be considerate
and ensure that noise is contained to very low levels after 8.30pm.
• Unruly, rude and abusive behaviour will not be accepted. Please consider all staff, volunteers,
campers and our neighbouring residents and respect everyone’s rights for a harmonious
surrounding at all times.
• No open fires are permitted in the grounds.
• For safety the speed limit in the showgrounds is walking pace
(8-10kms/hr) as it’s a shared zone
• Any person found to be damaging council property or that of other guests will be
evicted from the showgrounds and will be held responsible associated repair costs.
Dump Point
• If possible, it is preferred that you use the Columbia Poppet Head dump point before your
arrival at the showgrounds. Located at New Queen Road, Charters Towers.
• Showground dump point is for Black/Grey Water waste only.
• No wipes, feminine hygiene or rubbish products to be disposed of in the Showground Dump Point.
• Do not dispose of your black/grey water in the toilets, showers or sinks.
Amenities
• Showers & toilets are cleaned once daily.
• Please consider the person after you when using these amenities.
• Do not wash your pets in the toilet or bathroom facilities.
Animals
• Pets are permitted in the showgrounds, they must be leashed or contained by suitable
means at all times.
• Pets must be supervised at all times and never left unattended, including inside vans.
• As the owner of the pet, you are responsible for the cleaning up after your pet which also includes toilet
duties! Please take your animal’s waste away & dispose of it thoughtfully in the bins provided.
• No barking, yapping or aggressive behaviour allowed.
• Please do not wash your pet in the toilet or bathroom facilities.
• All pet owners, whether you have expressly agreed or not, assume all liability regarding your pet being
on our premises and indemnify Charters Towers Regional Council, staff & volunteers against all and any
damages and all or any claims that may arise as a result of your pet being anywhere in the
Charters Towers Showgrounds.
• Any breaches of the above conditions could result in early departure and forfeit of refund.
