Drop yourself into the Outback at “Grass Hut” Station, just 7kms South of Mingela. This 20,000 acre property operates a Stud and Commercial cattle herd, a Quarter Horse Stud and also has a Livestock Transport division to the business. The Millers are very busy people, with a lifetime of experience in the bush, so there’s always something going on at Grass Hut.

Description

Without any extra cost, you can watch or be involved with everyday station activities like everyday horse stable chores, practicing Campdrafting with American Bison, random musters in winter which would include branding calves and working dog demonstrations when there are weaners in the yards. There are also plenty of acres for bushwalking, and a good supply of bird species for those into bird watching.
For an additional cost, Property Tours or Billy Tea & Damper nights around the warmth of a campfire can be organised (but due to the costs are better booked with a group). You can also request a map and go explore the Gold fossicking areas.
Want a break from the cooking? Enjoy hearty station meals (at reasonable prices) with family and staff. Just a day or two’s notice is all that’s required for meal planning.
“Grass Hut” is more suited to Grey Nomads or Weekend Getaway campers, as the limited permanent accommodation books out quickly or is occupied by staff.
There are unlimited acres for camping, plus a newly turfed area for campers and caravans with their own power, with access to toilet and shower amenities. There’s also a few positions to plug in around the homestead area if power is required.
Pets with manners and on leads are more than welcome.
You can stay a day or stay a week, and enjoy the down to earth company and hospitality of real bush people.
