Cancellation Policy

We welcome all visitors staying in the Charters Towers Showground Overflow Facility and trust your stay is enjoyable. In order to ensure the comfort and safety of all our guests and surrounding residents please read and adhere to the following: GENERAL RULES & GUIDELINES: Pets are permitted but must be leashed or contained by suitable means at all times. Noise levels must remain at reasonable limits at all times. Social gatherings electronic entertainment and fun with friends are all part of a great holiday. However please be considerate of all guests and ensure that noise from your site is contained to very low levels after 8.30pm. Unruly or rude behaviour will not be accepted. Please consider all campers and our neighbouring residents and respect everyone’s rights for a harmonious surrounding at all times. No open fires are permitted in the grounds. A minimum distance between each site of 3 metres must be maintained for fire and emergency risk management. All vehicles should be parked front-facing to allow an easier exit in the unlikely case of any emergency evacuation. Please ensure your caravan/trailer ‘A’ frame faces the roadway. All road and pathways (gravel and paved) and areas surrounding all building structures on site must be kept clear to allow for unobstructed access at all times. Any vehicles or items obstructing this access will be removed at the expense of the owner of the removed items. Each individual site area is to be kept at a reasonable level of cleanliness and tidiness and all possessions contained within a reasonable area of your site. All electrical cords to power outlets must be secured to avoid trips. Preferably these should be lead to the power box above head height where able to do so safely. Cleaning of fish should be undertaken outside the grounds or within your own campsite. All scraps are to be securely wrapped and disposed of in external waste receptacles provided in the grounds. Vehicle cleaning is permitted. Please clean on grassed areas and please use water wisely. Hoses must be handheld at all times. Please do not leave any taps or hoses running unattended. In the interest of being water-wise it is preferred that commercial vehicle washing services are utilised. A self-service outlet is available at 268 Gill Street. Check-in times are from 8am – 7pm daily. Departure time is by 11am. ASSISTANCE: For emergency situations phone the usual emergency services direct on usual national numbers or simply dial 000. For emergency situations concerning the Showground facilities please phone Council on: 4761 5300 (all hours). For all general enquiries please contact the Charters Towers Visitor Information Centre on: 4761 5533. Any breach of these Terms & Conditions will result in immediate eviction from the facility. Charters Towers Regional Council and its authorised personnel has the right to refuse entry or access to any hirer who does not agree and/or adhere to these Terms & Conditions or to any reasonable request by the Showground’s caretaker staff or other authorised by Charters Towers Regional Council. Bookings: Charters Towers Showground (CTS) can only be booked or used as an RV caravan trailer or tent camping facility when all three caravan parks located within Charters Towers City being Charters Towers Tourist Park (4787 7944) Dalrymple Tourist Van Park (4787 1121) and Big 4 Aussie Oasis Outback Holiday Park (4787 8722) herein called ‘the associated Parks’ are completely booked including their approved overflow facilities. CTS cannot be booked or used as an overflow facility when the facility has been hired in its entirety by a private hirer. Dates of unavailability of the CTS through private hire will be notified to the associated Parks. When there is consistently no vacancy in the associated Parks visitors should enquire further with those Park operators or call into the Charters Towers Visitor Information Centre to discuss other options available. Bookings for the facility must be pre-paid through Charters Towers Visitor Information Centre. Guests must produce proof of booking on the request of any Charters Towers Regional Council authorised personnel at any time by way of their written Booking Invoice/ Receipt. If you are leaving your vehicle at any stage please display this in a visible place in your vehicle (eg: dashboard). Entry and exit is via the Mary Street entrance (H. Mills Gate opposite Elizabeth Street). Vehicular entry and exit points to CTS will be kept closed (not locked) at all times. However access for new guests’ set-up at the Showground will only be available from 8am-7pm daily. FEES: Site fees for 2021 are $30 per site (up to 2 people) plus extra people per site at: Children 16 years and under: $5 (under 5 years no charge) Adults: $8. Maximum per site is 8 people. IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL GUESTS ... Please be advised that this facility is a temporary stay until a vacancy becomes available for you at one of the three associated caravan parks in Charters Towers. As confirmation of your registered booking please keep your receipt from the Charters Towers Visitor Information Centre to show authorised Council personnel when required. We trust you will enjoy your visit. FOR YOUR PROECTION WOULD YOU PLEASE SHUT THE ENTRY GATE. This will not lock but if you would simply shut the gate on entry and exit using the closing mechanism attached to the gate this will provide some added protection for campers. Your thoughtfulness in this matter will be appreciated by many. BUT NOT THEIR WASTE Please take your animal’s waste away and dispose of it in waste disposal receptacles provided. PLEASE USE OUR FREE DUMP POINTS!!! Only dispose of grey and black water in certified dump points. Free dump points are located in the Showground (for authorised campers only) at the Columbia Poppet Head rest area on New Queen Road Charters Towers and Fletcher Creek camping area (30mins drive north of Charters Towers along the Gregory Developmental Road). All caravan parks in Charters Towers provide dump points for their guests.
